When Ubermen Meets X-Men: The Apocalypse

By Elie - 5:30 AM

Days since my last post: 5

Hello people! So you're probably thinking why a girl like me would talking about the brand Ubermen when it's clearly for guys, right? Well, sometimes we do things that are a little out of the ordinary for our boyfriends okay, and this includes looking into hair styling products. Especially since my boyfriend is an ah pek.

This is why I was glad to have been invited by the Ubermen team to understand just a little more about their products, and was pleasantly surprised that girls too; can use their products. So it's sort of a unisex thing here, which is interesting. But okay, let's backtrack a little to what happened two evenings ago.

Tobikko Carbonara from Franco, 1 Utama.

As a collaborative effort between Ubermen and X-Men: The Apocalypse, a handful of us were invited to dinner at Franco, 1 Utama. This was followed by a preview screening in none other than the glorious 3D IMAX theater where we got to catch the movie before anyone else. No spoilers here, but do stay for the post credit scene.

In cinemas...today.

The movies however wasn't quite the big deal for me, because much as I am ashamed to say, I haven't been that big a MARVEL fan. Instead, I was rather excited when Ubermen decided to also bring us on a shopping spree for Ubermen products at Watson's because it was there that I learned about the variants of hair styling products. Really, if you thought we girls had lots to pick from, you should check out what the guys have!

I mean, what's the difference between a 3D Matt Clay vs a Messy Fudge?

These guys seemed to know their deal though.

Surprising as it seems, Ubermen actually has 5 different choices for different hairstyles and even caters to different hair lengths. This was quite a kicker to me because...
  1. My father only uses the old school hair gel.
  2. My brother doesn't live with me if he uses hair products.
  3. My boyfriend doesn't really style his hair.
Three important men in my life, and none of them could educate me about hair styling products. #Fail

 The big 5 from Ubermen.

These picks were the MESSY FUDGE that's perfect for casual messy looks, WAVE GUM that's great for a more naturally wavy look, 3D MATT CLAY that gives guys with short to medium hair lengths that strong hold, the SPIKE WAX for guys who want to look like Son Goku all day long, and the AIR JELLY for those who wants to add a little volume to their short hair. Psst ladies, it seems the WAVE GUM is also perfect to set your hair after curling it!

The Ubermen x X-Men combo pack.

Additionally, Ubermen also came up with the Ubermen Combo Pack that features a 15g SPIKE WAX hair wax, a Ubermen Freedom Eau De Toilette and discount vouchers as they also collaborated with Watson's. This is because as a grooming brand, Ubermen's goal has ultimately been to inspire everyone to be bold and effortlessly cool, just like the characters from X-Men: The Apocalypse. Totally makes sense now why they're working hand in hand!

When bloggers unite.

By the end of the day, the lot of us got to sweep the racks clean of hair styling products and also got ourselves some awesome premiums from Watson's. Yes, even myself because I am determined to now make my boyfriend do something about his hair.

You get an earphone, you get an earphone, EVERYBODY GETS AN EARPHONE.

Basically you simply need to purchase RM 15 worth of Ubermen's products and you'll get some pretty sick earphones for FREE, or go further for an exclusive X-Men: The Apocalypse snapback with RM 80 worth of purchases. After some good ol' shopping, we were whisked to the cinema where another surprise awaited the guys, and it was the Mutant Makeover Machine.

Not sure why Joel looked so skeptical.

You really can't miss the pop-up booth, so why not stop by before the movies so you could look just as cool as the characters from X-Men: The Apocalypse as you watch them on the big screen? I think this was a big fanboy plus for the guys, because they looked almost as decent as the characters, just not as mutant-y. The evening ended with us staring in awe at the screen as the action unfolded and left our seats thanking our stars that the apocalypse didn't actually happen. Thank you, mutants.

And now, I am glad to say I understand just that much more about Ubermen's products that are made with an easy-rinse formula and smells FREAKING FANTASTIC. I know it's weird to say this but as a hair styling product, their waxes smells amazing. Did you also know that Ubermen is a local brand? I mean, I always thought they were from Korea or something, but this long-holding hair styling product is absolutely Malaysian, and have HALAL certifications for those who may feel a little concerned.

So thank you once again for the amazing evening, Ubermen. Not only have I learned about how complicated it can also be for a guy, I also got to see how men actually do their shopping when they're told to go crazy.

Exhibit A.

For more information on Ubermen's products, you could always visit Watson's to grab some or visit their Facebook page here. Signing off to try some hair wax on my boyfriend now. Ciao!
