Onward to 2021: The resolution edition

By Elie - 12:00 AM

Happy 2021, everyone! Here's to hoping the worst of 2020 has come and go so we can all have a peaceful 2021 ahead! Like most years, I actually find it fun to make a list of resolutions regardless of whether I hit or miss them in the end. I suppose more than just making a promise from me to me, having a resolution post on this blog is a commitment I'm keen to make. And without further ado, here's to my 2021: The Resolution Edition.

TO LEARN SOMETHING NEW

In the past year, I told myself that I wanted to master Dutch only for a global pandemic to put a halt to my classes. It got me missing my resolution in 2020, which was upsetting because we were off to a great start until the 2nd quarter of the year. So in a bid to avoid missing this resolution again, I'm determined to learn something new - whatever it may be. Whether it's Dutch or something else to help with my career moving on, here's to hoping 2021 will be a year of picking up new skills.

TO FINISH A GAME

Here's an odd one, but I'm hoping to finish any of the many games I've purchased on the Nintendo Switch from 2020. I blame it on the many Nintendo sales, the influence of my sibling, and the push from my other half to adopt the Nike tagline. Just do it. I currently have 6 (or more?) games on what we call a backlog, and I just want to finish at least one of them this year. 2 if I'm ambitious, but let's see what happens.

TO KEEP A WORKOUT ROUTINE

Don't get me wrong - unlike most years when vowed to lose weight, this year I'm just hoping I can keep a workout routine. After my many years of failing to lose weight, I've accepted that I'll either stay my current weight or go higher, but never less. So in 2021, I'm hoping to simply stay more active and feel healthier. I would have gone as far as to pledge for a better sleep routine, but we all know that's not happening. Cue my parents screaming at me in 3...2...1...

TO EXPLORE NETHERLANDS AND GO HOME FOR A HOLIDAY

If we're playing it fair, this is a resolution that I have no control over. But I'd love for 2021 to be the year my other half and I will get to explore the Netherlands a bit more and to go home for a holiday. One of the best things of this country is how every city feels so different, but the pandemic has made it difficult to explore the Netherlands. So here's to hoping the Covid vaccines reach us quick and we'll all be safe for travels again.

TO LOVE MY BLOG 2.0

Okay, blog. Let's try this again. We'll try for monthly updates once more, even if my daily habits are boring. We'll find something to do, and eventually I'll find my spark to love you again so we have better memories to share in 2021. Thank you for always being my space and my muse, Cantuslupus.com. I'll try to be better this year. I promise.
